Suspect ID’d, Charged With Attempted Homicide In Trenton Shooting

Police have identified and arrested the suspect in a Trenton shooting following what they describe as “weeks of combing through evidence and extensive investigative work.”

Steven S. Harper, 37, was arrested and charged with criminal attempted homicide and related weapons offenses, Trenton Police said in a Monday release.

Officers responding to a shooting report at 351 Centre St. in Trenton found a man with a gunshot wound to his left leg just before 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, police said.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The investigation was turned over to the Mercer County Shooting Response Team (SRT), who identified Harper as the suspect following “extensive investigative work,” authorities said.

SRT Detectives and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit carried out a fugitive operation near Centre Street and executed an arrest warrant on Harper on Thursday, Nov. 17.
